Energy Saving Tip

Empty space in a fridge takes energy to cool. So when you are in between visits to the grocery store try storing a box in your fridge. This fills up negative space and saves you energy and money! You can add a crafty flair by turning it into a fridge monster, eating up all your left overs! So help save the environment while cutting back your power bills.

New Art Supplies

I just finished a new pastel piece, (above 8" by 10") over the weekend and had such a great time! I just got my new pastel boards that I ordered off of Utrecht.com and must say that I was highly impressed. They held layers of color without smudging. I used a fixative that I also purchased at Utrecht in between colors and to cover the completed piece.
Working with soft pastels has been one of my favorite forms of expression. It has been one of the best ways to transfer my imagination onto paper. If you have any questions about pastels or about our cause Art Eco Utah please leave a comment or click here to visit our website!

Thank you,

Come Together!

One of my favorite things about spring and summer is all the fresh fruits and veggies! Corn on the cob tastes much better when it is home grown! By buying local produce we can reduce emissions from the transport of goods and stimulate our economy. Find out when your local farmer's market is held or set up a neighborhood market. A great way to get rid of excess fruit on your trees is to swap with your neighbors. Getting food right from the source allows you to get the most of what food has to offer us. So get outside and enjoy the season!

Humming Bird Nectar

Adding a hummingbird feeder to your yard is a great way to help bring more life to your home. With a good feeder and colorful garden you can get bird's attention in no time! It is very important to make your hummingbird nectar properly.

Take four (4) cups of boiling water and add one (1) cup of pure granulated sugar. Stir this mixture until sugar is completely dissolved. Let this mixture cool and then carefully pour into feeder. These birds are very sensitive so adding too much sugar can cause them to have organ damage. Any food coloring or other mixtures should also be avoided to help protect the health of the birds.

One of the most common types of hummingbirds in  Utah is the Costa's hummingbird. Find out the kinds of birds that live and migrate through your area. Planting certain plants or a feeder with specific food can help you see more of what nature has to offer.

Enjoy! -Brooke
