Sketchbook Pro 6 Review

As an artist who is primarily focused on fine arts-I have been wanting to expand and try my hand at digital illustration. With a little bit of research I discovered the Sketchbook Pro program and was able to get a free trial. A really great program for those interested in digital art for a great price!

As with other editing programs, Sketchbook Pro utilizes layers. This allows you to work on different aspects of your project, test different effects, and merge them later on. I personally enjoy this feature because it allows me to experiment without the fear of losing hours of work. The endless tool choices give you versatility to create anything you can imagine! I have been using my laptop for this trial but think the experience might be better on a touch screen device with a stylis.

This program is brought to you by Autodesk. The creators of many innovative design programs such as MAYA and AUTOCAD. Professionals in the industry rave about these programs and utilize them in their everyday life. Watch some of these informative tutorials to master Sketchbook Pro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1F9y258LCk&list=PL29B8315388946108

White Nose Syndrome-Will Bats Survive?

Indiana Bat
White nose syndrome is a fungal disease that has been found in many North American bat colonies. The fungus grows in cool temperatures when bats are hibernating. It grows on the ears, wings, and muzzles of the bat and cause lesions and rouse them from hibernation. A mortality rate of over 90% in some species have been observed from the spread of WNS.
The Forest Service estimates that the die-off from white-nose syndrome means that at least 2.4 million pounds of bugs will go uneaten and become a financial burden to farmers. Some species of bats may be faced with extinction including the Big Eared Bat and Indiana Bat.

So what can you do to help the spread of White Nose Syndrome?
  • Stay out of affected areas to avoid spreading the spores
  • Avoid known hibernation areas
  • Report unusual bat behavior (flying during December-March, Struggling to fly, Roosting in sun)
  • Minimize outdoor lighting, take care of streams and wetlands
  • Construct homes for bats
With everyone's help we can minimize the spread of this fungus and ensure the future of the bat population!
